ISN has been recently invited to join a Global Advocacy Initiative initiated by IBRO, which will enable all ISN members to actively help developing important and specific activities in their countries and regions.
The mission is to inform and educate key policymakers and other opinion leaders about new scientific knowledge and recent developments in research on the brain and the nervous system, in both health and disease. Information to be imparted may include the implications of neuroscience research for public policy, societal benefit, economic development and continued scientific progress.
All major international neuroscience societies have agreed to contribute to this initiative, i.e. IBRO, the Society for Neuroscience (SfN), the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS) and ISN.
Further participating societies and organizations are the Japanese Neuroscience Society, the Austrailan Neuroscience Society and the DANA Foundation.
The committee is chaired by Pierre Magistretti, the current IBRO Secretary General. ISN has nominated Alois Saria, current treasurer and designated next president of ISN, to join the committee.
